tv
TV is another fantastic narrative medium that gives us the opportunity to create unique worlds for characters to exist and flourish within. Building these habitats from scratch is a wonderful process of understanding the relationship we have with our built environment.
Along with tracking + managing the overall department budget, a TV art director handles dept work scheduling + oversees overall construction, whiles planning department cadence during the build + pre-shoot work. Extensive knowledge of various materials, construction assemblage & processes, architecture styles, textures, textiles and finishes is required.
Accumulating 15+ yrs industry specific experience, helps me use my immense knowledge bank of best standards & practices with regards to process + materials. From concept, through design process, to build management and finally through finishing elements, sets may be the end product of months and years of development, down sometimes mere weeks/days. The long haul, but fast paced structure of TV is exciting and often open ended for exploration. I execute on the ideas and visions of production designers and director / DP’s by designing, drawing plans, managing fabrication, scenic work and dressing of sets to create full emersion experience that will help a viewer lose themselves in the story.
